A sudden quirk
somewhere in the gut
and a little below my
blatant throat
conscience was dissuading
with disconfirming conscious
yet the unmanned tongue
kept taking the other side
in spite of the shiver beneath
fear diffused in the air I breathe
I managed to utter my first lie
trust me mom I ain’t mean to
but don’t know why
the judgement was clearly ethical
the truth, what I should say
the sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch
even the extrasensory perception
voted to defy
I lied!
weighing my head down with disgust
I try to gather
‘Was the reason worth breaking your trust?’
An Unsettling Lie

The guilt and the emotions thereafter are portrayed nicely in this poem. Well penned!
